RBARA BEVERLY DENSEL, FHS FLYERS CLASS of 1964
Barbara Beverly Densel of Rockville, MD, passed away Monday, February 3, 2020, at Adventist Health Care Shady Grove Medical Center, at the age of 74. She was preceded in death by her parents, Forest Beverly and Evelyn Ford.
She is survived by her husband, Harry E. Densel, of Rockville, MD; daughters, Lynette (Michael) Apt of Acworth, GA, Jaquenette (Matthew) Keady of Mt. Airy, MD, and Michelle (Curtis) Snyder of Ocean View, DE.; grandchildren, Melissa (Nathan) Brown, Colin (Rebecka) Johnson, Brittany (William) DiStefano, Cheyenne and Wyatt Snyder; step-children, Kym (Mark) Brown of Germantown, MD, Karen (Michael) Machikas of Chapel Hill, NC, Karla (James) Trythall of Poolesville, MD, and Brian (Eileen) Densel of Highland, MD; step-grandchildren, Rebecca Brown, Taylor (Jon) Willard, Alexander (Alexa) Machikas, Constantine Harrison Machikas, and Zack, Ashley, and Samantha Densel; seven great-grandchildren; and siblings, Ronald Beverly of Cookeville, TN, Marsha (FHS-61) Mauchamer of Arlington, WA, and Jeri (FHS-62) Kohut of Federal Way, WA.
Barbara was born December 21, 1945, in Fleming, KY, and was raised in Fairborn, OH. As a young girl, she was a member of the Brownies and Girl Scouts. She attended Fairborn High School, was a member of the Girls Athletic Association and enjoyed playing field hockey. As a young adult, Barbara enjoyed playing tennis and competed in tennis matches. She also developed a true love of gardening, cooking and baking, and enjoyed trying out new recipes.
In her early thirties, Barbara married the love of her life, Harry Densel. Barbara supported Harry while building his heating and air conditioning company. Together, along with business partners, Bobby and Dorothy Gilman, they made Harry E. Densel Company, Inc. a huge success.
Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her family beyond measure and truly treasured spending time with them. Barbara and Harry were international travelers, visiting countries such as France, Ireland, Russia, Canada, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. They also traveled extensively in the United States, sight-seeing and visiting family and friends.
