Gloria Hemphill (Daack) VIEW PROFILE

Gloria Yvonne Hemphill Daack began eternity with our Savior, Jesus Christ, on 7 August 2011 after a courageous and faith-filled battle with cancer. Her departure leaves her husband, Col (ret) Martin T. Daack; daughter, Stephanie Daack Reynolds and husband Lt Col Ashton Reynolds (Analyn, Saxon); son, Lt. Col Martin Daack Jr, and wife Jennifer (Taylor, Chase, Jory, Lindsey); brother, Gary Hemphill; sister, Karen Hemphill Medley (Megan, Blair, Caitlin) deeply mourning but grateful that our lives were graced by hers. She joins her father, Lt Col (ret) William T. Hemphill Jr, and mother Yvonne Ramsey Hemphill in eternal joy and peace. Gloria was much loved by everyone and loved everyone much. With a warm smile and an unshakeable faith, she brought wise counsel and delight into the lives of those blessed to have known her. Her mercy and tenderness for others enabled her to be a mentor at church and at home. She enjoyed travelling the country and entertaining with true southern charm and hospitality. She was the loving wife, the gentle mother, the steadfast friend. She brought beauty and delight to everything she did and to all lives she touched, from foreign dignitaries to young children. The world is a lonelier place for her passing. We take comfort that all that we love about her - her wit, charm, wisdom, faith, humor, kindness, mischief, witness, and beauty of heart and mind - still lives and we may eagerly await the day when we will join her in heaven. She was an active member of the community, including her church. Her love for history and family ties made her an invaluable member of the Kinnikinnik Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. A memorial service will be held at the Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel on Friday, 12 August 2011, at 10:00 a.m., followed by inurnment in the Air Force Academy Memorial Pavilion columbarium. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Gloria Daack's name to the Rocky Mountain Cancer Assistance organization, 1161 S. Vivian Street, Lakewood, CO 80228.
