Richard Bruce Smead “Rick”, age 78 of Fairborn passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Hospice of Dayton. He was born on September 22, 1946, in Dayton to the late Lou and Kay (nee: Morrison) Smead.
After graduating from Fairborn High School, Rick enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country for two years before being honorably discharged. He worked for NCR for several years before being laid off when he made the decision to change the course of his career to work at Prudential as an agent. For over twenty seven years, Rick excelled at providing quality insurance to his community, before deciding to start a new chapter in his life painting cars and motorcycles at Chuck’s Body Shop.
Rick enjoyed riding motorcycles and as was a long time, Mason. Above all his greatest joy was spending time with his family of whom he adored.
His is survived by his beloved wife of over 30 years, Jo Smead; two loving children, Mike (Jenna) Smead and Carrie (Jerime)Diltz; four grandchildren, Alexis Diltz, Braxton Bennett, Aubree Bennett, and Lincoln Smead. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and close friends.
A celebration of Life will take place on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 7:00 P.M. at Burcham Tobias Funeral Home (119 East Main Street, Fairborn, OH 45324), with calling hours to begin after 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Light refreshments will be offered.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Hospice of Dayton.
