Dave isn't kidding.......I remember getting him caught up in my watch band one time and "hook shot him over my left shoulder thru the net from foul line. Ed had to keep looking back/up to make sure he hadn't dropped Dave when he "planked" him across the stage (Kiss Me Kate).  I'll even bet Dave is still "packing"........sand in both pockets.  {love ya Dave. (;8~{)}...........(that's a smile with a mustache)

Oh, and Mike, I found my two-tone loafers you called "lightning boots"????  They were right there with both my pair of Saddle Oxford shoes (black/white and brown/white). I wouldn't consider my loafers "lightning boots" as my black loafers have a white "scalene triangle" on the outside rear panel of each shoe.  ("scalene triangle"........wow, I sure pulled that one out of my "6"........ as it's been decades since 7th grade math).

Hey Zoe, is the Green Frog (down the road from the bowling alley and the lumber yard) still there........hopehopehope!        If not I certainly expect there to be at least a  "Historical Marker" close by.  Coldest beer in town and no age descrimination practiced there.   SMILE !!!!!

Jim, I have no idea or recollection of what was said in 1994!  I can't remember what I said or heard yesterday without writing it down!

Buckeyes play at Noon on Oct 24.  We hope!  Fingers crossed!

Seeing the pictures of the 'new' S Maple in Fairborn doesn't seem real! I hope it's good for the town! And the new schools...well. Does that mean it has been 56 years since we graduated? A half century! Oh my!  I felt good that son Bill graduated from Fairborn in 2000. Change has come to Fairborn for sure!

Does anyone remember the Wooten family? Their daughter graduated in 1960. Her daughter grew up in Columbus and goes to our church.

I have found it very interesting reading all of these posts.  We did not get to Fairborn until 1961 when my father got stationed at Wright Pat.  We were only there for maybe 6 years. I did not spend much time in town.  When I started school I was comepletely overwhelemed since my last high school had 20  people and a graduating class on 2. I do remember the furniture store that gave us all ceder boxes when we graduated as a gift. I still have mine. Thank you for posting your memories

Zoe,  I enjoyed your walk down memory lane.  So much to remember about growing up in Fairborn - from Central Jr High to the one and only true Fairborn High School.
I know there are many who hate Facebook.  During this election cycle, I'm getting there.  But, a couple of you may know I'm one of the administrators for a forum called "You Know You Are From Fairborn".  I invite you to join and share your memories and pictures there.

Anita - I too didn't live in Fairborn long enough to know much of what is being remembered by those who lived there longer.  I moved there in 1962 when my dad was transferred to Wright Patterson and I left when we all graduated.  I don't even remember receiving a cedar box when we graduated.

Fairborn was such a rich cultural mix with Wright-Pat and the military kids.  Along with civilian engineers, technicians and scientists with some of them German who came over here after WWII.  Then a lot of kids whose parents came up from south of the Ohio River post WWII to get the manufacturing jobs in the Dayton metro area plus civil service jobs at the base.  And the original families of Fairborn.  The merchants, business owners, teachers, doctors, real estate moguls and entrepreneurs, some of whom our classmates became in their own right.

We all blended together with relative harmony without much thought and no one single common heritage.

We had to go to the Fairborn Furniture Store to pick them up.  I do not know who they were for girls and boys? I kept mine to put letters in.  You were talking about the changes when we were there the elementary school was right next to the high school.  I used to take my sisters to school when I could drive.  My brothers went downtown to Chaminade.  We lived on base so I am not familiar with a lot of the places you are mentioning.

I have never heard this song before but it sure presents a powerful message that all should hear and contemplate.  Thank you Mike!

I have never been concerned about aging, until recently. I don't know whether it's the frustration of stay at home. Or just what. The trigger this week was a CVS survey that asked for my age group. I saw 65-74 and then 75 which I remember listed as an age by itself. Not 75 and up. I felt relieved I could legitimately pick the former.

Sending happy and positive thoughts to us all as we begin to reach the golden years. All I can say for sure is...I don't know everything. I am learning a lot from my grandchildren. And it's ok that I don't know everything. And they can teach me things that are new or even old.

I love you all!  Gayle

Whenever something bad would happen my Dad would always say we needed to find the good that would come out of it.  I have searched and searched and this morning it hit me.  When was the last time you heard anything about the Kardashians.  Just saying.

Sue, I share your sentiment but you have your tense wrong.  You weren't part of the class of '64.  You ARE part of the class of '64,  Kathy
